Chymos is the gift that the Olympians gave the humans that lived in Atlantis. After the sinking of the continent, a few that carried this gift escaped, allowing Humanity to continue practicing the Art of Balance. Achieving Balance gains one the favor of the Gods. All people have Chymos inside them but only a quarter of the population are able to activate the gift naturally. This Chymos can be used in conjunction with a material (called the activator) to use their powers. The use of an activator with one's Chymos is called attunement. However, everyone is born with their Chymos closed, and only through study and training can one hope to open it. However, any God is able to awaken the power in any human they so choose. The control and balance of that power can only be gained through practice. As with many skills, overexerting one's self can lead to exhaustion. Using up one's Chymos completely leads to death as the Soul and Chymos cannot live without one another.


There are six elements (or seven depending on who you talk to).

Soul – Soul has the lowest cost activator because it only requires that the user person have free will. However, obsidian can be used to enhance their powers. A soul user that is under duress or being controlled by another is unable to call upon their powers. Soul users tend to use psychic powers (plasma). The more free-spirited someone is, the more hot and fluid their powers are (in the literal sense) which makes it easier to control. If they are not, their powers become cold and brittle. By placing others under their control, they can augment their abilities with the Chymos of their victims. One puts another under their control by physically touching them and expelling their energy into them, thus suppressing their own. A soul user can resist the power of another soul user for much longer than others due to their higher willpower. They can also manipulate what already exists but cannot create it like the elementals. Masters of the Soul can manipulate minds and create plasma-like energy to attack and defend.

Light and Dark – Light means both light and dark to many, and as such, there are two different schools of light users. Dark users can manipulate shadows, become shadows and even enshroud locations in darkness. Light users can do much the same with their light. Both can hone light and darkness to blind their opponents and make weapons in the same way as the soul beings can create plasma. However, the weapons made are much stronger and are more difficult to break than plasma. Both use light and dark energy blasts as well. For a light user, gold is the ideal activator. For a dark user, it would be platinum.

Earth – The control of the Earth. The strongest archons are able to create canyons and raise small mountains. However, this is the secondmost difficult Chymos to manipulate because of how heavy the earth is. It is very often that those who specialize in Earth become very muscular, as it takes physical strength in addition to chymos to move the earth. Expelling earth comes from the mouth in the form of mud. Because of how generally unpleasant this is, many consider this a last resort. The activator for earth is considered to be wood.

Water – The manipulation of water. They can also produce their own water from their hands and mouth. The best are able to even breathe underwater by manipulating water at a molecular level. The activator for water is cobalt.

Fire – The manipulation and generation of fire from the mouth and body. This is the easiest chymos to generate for a novice alongside air because of how light and formless it is. However, because of the same reason, it is the most difficult to manipulate and master. Many fire users end up living very short lives due to how dangerous the element can be. The most common form of death from these users is spontaneous combustion. For the same reason, there are very few masters and even fewer archons. However, once one reaches that level they are out of danger and actually live the longest of all the Chymos users, as fire was the original gift of the Gods. Steel is the activator of fire users.

Air – Air can cut, move, and even make weapons out of sound itself. The masters of this element can fly and manipulate/generate lightning (through the superheating of the air). They are also the fastest. It is the easiest element to learn and master. Titanium is the activator for air users.
